Long overdue......

Well, blog followers, I think it is time that I get it together again and start posting.....!!! It has been a wild and crazy year and I don't have any good excuses for neglecting the blog.....so here we go! Believe it or not, Miss Audrey will be turning 2 years old in just a matter of days! It is so hard to believe that time is passing so fast. She just gets more precious and fun everyday! I will give you a quick recap of some of the things that have been going on with her. She has started going to a preschool program two days a week at Daniel Island Academy. Mrs. Martha is her teacher and she is wonderful. Audrey had a few teary days, but has learned to love her time in 'school'. She has also become quite a musician...playing any instrument she can get her hands on. She is also the smallest groupee for her big brother, Jesse's band! She loves her some Jesse! She has become quite a talker as well. She is starting to put together words to make sentences and getting her point across very well.

A wild and crazy night with Meme and Papa

Meme and Papa were here for the weekend (Dec.31-Jan.2). Mommy and Daddy went on a much-needed getaway for the night on Friday evening, and Audrey got to stay with Meme and Papa. It was a wild and crazy night of firsts. Audrey had her first meal at Bessinger's Bar-b-que....an institution in Charleston....and one of Meme's favorites. She had Diet Coke out of a straw, and to top it all off, she ended the night with an Oreo McFlurry from McDonald's. Obviously Meme and Papa wanted to spoil her with things Mommy would NEVER allow! Well, what else are Grandparents for if not to spoil a little one! Even after all the wild and crazy excitement, Miss Audrey had a peaceful night sleep. Mommy and Daddy missed her very much, but enjoyed a night out as well.

Pictures, pictures

On Tuesday afternoon, we had an appointment for Christmas pictures. Unfortunately, we hadn't taken any formal Birthday pictures yet; so we combined the photo session with some birthday pics as well.

Audrey was great....it only took about 20 minutes to get tons of great shots! She had a great time playing with the props (Christmas tree, ornaments, etc.) Here are a few of the best ones....

Tree Lighting at the Sanctuary

We had a fun night of Christmas cheer at the Sanctuary on Tuesday night. Audrey and I met Daddy for the fun. Of course, Miss Audrey was part of the entertainment, as she laughed, clapped, and played around the tree. We had lots of fun and it was just the thing to put us in the Christmas spirit.

Bathing beauty

Miss Audrey always has lots of fun at bath time....and so does Mommy! We had fun splashing and making funny hairdos for Audrey. She just gets more and more fun everyday!

Bye, bye Bottle

Well, another milestone....we seem to be reaching these milestones a lot these days. It is official, Miss Audrey is bottleless. Yes, we gave up the bottle this weekend. Our next task will be giving up the 'passie'. Meme is totally against us giving up the 'passie' but you've got to do what you've got to do! Audrey only takes the 'passie' for naps and night time, so we aren't that concerned; however, the pediatrician says it's best to give up when they are young. We'll keep you posted!

Shopping on King Street

We are teaching Audrey early of the best places to shop! We had a fun walk down King Street today and did a little window shopping. We stopped in at Bob Ellis, but all we left with was a bag....not a handbag, just a shopping bag....thanks to our friend, Wayne.

The Sabatical is Over.....

Sorry all, I have been very slack! I am back to the work grind and have not been very good about posting. Never fear, I have been collecting pictures over the last few weeks for my future posts to the blog. See the new posts below and all the fun stuff going on with Miss Audrey!

What a busy day!

Another stop on our day Saturday was a visit to see Mama Capitan. Audrey just loves seeing Mama. She is even repeating the word, "Mama". The two of them enjoy being with each other....as is evident from the pictures. Mama will be 91 years old on Wednesday, October 28th!

Fall is a fun time on Daniel Island

Daniel Island is such a wonderful place to live. The activities are abundant. One of the annual events this time of year is the Pumpkin Walk and Drum Circle. We walked to Barfield Park for the event. It was awesome! Tons of pumpkins carved in all kinds of designs. We strolled through the woods (Audrey on Daddy's shoulders) and listened to the drum beat. It was so much fun!

Fall is here.....

Fall has finally arrived! It is Mommy's favorite season....can you imagine why?

The weather is beautiful and there is so much fun to be had! One of our first fall adventures was to look for the perfect pumpkin. As you can see, Audrey had a great time checking out all the pumpkins. What a precious picture!

Happy 11 Months Miss Audrey!

Well, we are only one month away from 1 year old! 11 months old today! I have said it every month, but it is still true...I can't believe how fast it has gone by! This last month has been exciting in many ways. First, Audrey took her first 3 steps on September 24th....and at the end of this month, she is walking everywhere. She looks like a little weeble wabble. Before long she will be running....we hope that will take a few more weeks!

This month Mommy had to be in Minneapolis for TWO WEEKS! It was very difficult for Mommy to be away, but Audrey and Daddy managed very well. Audrey has always adored Daddy, but these two weeks took her admiration to a new high! Ms. Bess and Daddy had a great time working together to keep Miss Audrey happy and on-schedule. They made a wonderful team.

We are looking forward to celebrating Miss Audrey's first birthday next month!! So exciting!

Celebrating with Meme and Papa

Meme and Papa were down in Charleston for the weekend of Papa's birthday. As always, we had a great time with them! We enjoyed an incredible lunch that Daddy made. Our lunch was topped off with the birthday cake that Uncle John and Audrey made for Papa. Audrey showed Meme her fun with the mixing bowl (see pic).

Meme and Papa, thank you for letting us celebrate with you. We can't wait to see you again!

Baking Papa's Birthday cake!

Uncle John, Meme, and Papa were in Charleston for the weekend of Papa's birthday (also their anniversary, 42 years)

Uncle John made Papa's birthday cake and let Audrey help him! She had so much fun with Uncle John and even got into the baking spirit. We didn't add Audrey as an ingredient in the cake, but she ended up in a mixing bowl....having LOTS of fun! Thank you Uncle John for letting me be a part of it!

The fellows night at the house

Daddy is part of a men's bible study that meets at our house once a week. Audrey always enjoys seeing the fellows when they come over. This particular Wednesday, Audrey got to "play" the guitar with Tommy Lee. She got her own personal concert from the smooth tunes and song from Tommy. What a lucky girl she is!

My First Haircut

One thing that Miss Audrey has always had a lot of....hair. So, Mommy debated about how soon to get a haircut. Well the decision was finally made to get some of the scraggly hair cut.

Off to Bangs and Bows (Mt. Pleasant) we went. It is the neatest little place with airplane seats and lots of fun toys for the first haircut. Audrey got to sit in a red fire engine for her haircut. She was most fascinated with the steering wheel and horn!

She made it through most of her haircut without a tear, but by the end, she was ready for a little hug from Mommy.

A Day with Daddy

Audrey enjoyed a day with Daddy today. She is always especially happy to have her favorite person home with her. As you can see, there are lots of smiles and fun with Daddy is around!

Mommy's Little Assistant

Miss Audrey decided she would help Mommy load the dishwasher this afternoon....so, she climbed right up on the dishwasher door and started to "help".  She had lots of fun and was a big help!  

Happy 10 Months Birthday!

Another month gone...it is so amazing how fast time is flying!  This month has been full of new discoveries and adventures.  Miss Audrey is showing her imagination more and more everyday.  She definitely has her own language, we're just not sure of the exact interpretation into English.  She is also showing signs of her independence as well.  We are expecting a few steps any day now.  I know the next few weeks will bring lots of exciting moments....stay tuned!  

A New Friend...

Miss Audrey has added to her collection of stuffed friends....Mr. Bear.  I can't say that she loves Mr. Bear as much as Bun-Bun, but he is a close second.  Here in this picture, she just couldn't choose between one or the other...so they both were in hand!  So cute!
